William (Bill) J. Brady - Chairman
Mr. Brady was appointed Chairman in February 2011. Mr. Brady was appointed the CEO of Mascoma Corporation in January 2010 and serves on its Board of Directors. Previously, Mr. Brady was Executive Vice President of Cabot Corporation, a specialty chemical company. Throughout his twenty-three year experience, Mr. Brady held numerous positions at Cabot in the U.S. and in Japan, including General Manager of the $1.5 billion Carbon Black business which operates 23 manufacturing plants in 18 countries. In addition, he led the commercialization of two start-up businesses at Cabot in ink jet colorants and elastomer composites. Mr. Brady is an overseer at the Museum of Science in Boston, and a member of the Board of Trustees at the University of Scranton. Mr. Brady is a graduate of the University of Scranton with a Bachelor’s Degree in Chemistry, and received his Master’s Degree in Business Administration from Fairleigh Dickenson University.
Stephen J. Hicks - Chief Executive Officer
Steve Hicks has served as CEO since its founding in December 2008. He also serves as the President & CEO of J. M. Longyear, LLC. Mr. Hicks is the former Vice Chairman of Minnesota Steel Industries and serves on the Board of Governors of Superior Mineral Resources and the Board of Control of Michigan Technological University. Mr. Hicks has 25 years of experience in businesses focused on natural resources. He has held a variety of management positions, including over 15 years of experience in senior executive leadership positions. Mr. Hicks has a B.S. in Accounting from Michigan Technological University and is a graduate of the University of Michigan Business School Executive Program.
Jack Huggins
Independent Board Member
Jack Huggins serves as a member of the Board of Directors of Mascoma Corporation. Mr. Huggins has over 30 years of experience in the ethanol industry and agribusiness, including ten years as president of multiple ethanol production and marketing companies and past Chairman of the Renewable Fuels Association. He currently works with The Nature Conservancy Upper Mississippi River program, focusing on the impact of agricultural land management practices on freshwater ecosystems. Mr. Huggins graduated from Yale University with a Bachelor's Degree in Chemical Engineering and received his Master's Degree in Business Administration from Pace University.
Bruce A. Jamerson
Chairman, Mascoma Corporation
Bruce Jamerson served as Chairman from December 2008 to February 2011 and currently serves as Chairman of Mascoma Corporation. Mr. Jamerson has over 25 years of experience in renewable fuels, energy and finance. He served Mascoma as CEO from early 2007 until August 2009. During that time Mascoma raised over $100 million in equity and government grants, completed its demonstration plant in Rome, New York and began its first commercial project. Mr. Jamerson previously was President and Director of VeraSun Energy Corporation from 2003 to 2007. He also served as its Chief Financial Officer from 2003 until its initial public offering of stock in 2006. Prior to VeraSun, Mr. Jamerson was Founder and President of Conifer Investments, L.L.C., an investment banking firm and early stage venture investor. He previously served as Vice President of U.S. Natural Resources, Inc., an affiliate of Kohlberg, Kravis, Roberts & Company. He worked in the investment banking department of The First Boston Corporation (now Credit Suisse) in New York focusing on natural resources and in the ship financing department of Citibank in New York. Mr. Jamerson earned an M.S. from the Sloan School of Management at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and a B.G.S. from the University of Michigan. He is a Michigan native.
Jim Matheson
General Partner, Flagship Ventures
Jim Matheson serves as a member of the Board of Directors of Mascoma Corporation. Mr. Matheson joined Flagship Ventures in 2000, after previously serving for 15 years as an Officer and Fighter Pilot in the US Navy. His duties included being stationed on aircraft carriers flying combat missions in Iraq and Bosnia, as a TOPGUN Instructor, and as the Officer-in-Charge of the Navy’s West Coast adversary training and evaluation squadron. He continues to serve as a Commander in the US Naval Reserves. He currently serves as a Director of Flagship portfolio companies Avidimer Therapeutics, eDialog, Tira Wireless and Trusted Network Technologies, and works closely with Affinnova, Blue Agave Software and Brainshark. Mr. Matheson earned a BS with Honors in Computer Science from the US Naval Academy and an MBA from The Harvard Business School. Mr. Matheson's primary focus area is software applications and infrastructure.
