Our Facility - Cellulosic Ethanol Production
Frontier is investing up to $300 million to build a state-of-the-art facility capable of producing up to 40 million gallons of cellulosic ethanol a year by 2013.
The facility will be located in Kinross Township in the eastern Upper Peninsula of Michigan and is surrounded by extensive sources of biomass. The location is close to an extensive rail network, major highways, and deep water ports for barge and road access. It will also be close to power, natural gas, and transmission lines.
Frontier will employ 50 people in full-time jobs with an additional 150 people employed during the construction phase. The State of Michigan estimates that another 700 jobs will be created in the manufacturing, agricultural, and timber industries.
Frontier is committed to creating Michigan jobs for Michigan citizens.
Frontier is proud to be partnering with the Michigan Economic Development Corporation and the U.S. Department of Energy in development of our first facility. In addition, Michigan State University and Michigan Technological University are providing us valuable research.
