Focus on Sustainability

Frontier is a company with deep roots in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula and is committed to protecting our forests, Great Lakes, air, and quality of life.

THIS IS OUR COMMITMENT:

Frontier will encourage sustainable forestry management:

Our pulpwood purchases will be from landowners and loggers practicing best management practices and sustainable timber harvests.

Frontier will utilize surplus pulpwood:

That’s less than 1 million tons from an annual wood surplus of 3.9 million tons a year, or less than 0.2 percent of the 487 million tons of live timber growing stock located within 150 miles of Kinross.

Frontier’s CBP process is low-cost and low-carbon:

Using microorganisms that can break down non-edible plant material without the need to add expensive enzymes reduces cost. And because the plant material that the microbes ferment into ethanol was recently absorbing CO2 from the atmosphere, the process is low-carbon, unlike the burning of fossil fuels.

Frontier will leave little waste:

All parts of the delivered pulpwood will be used, including the bark and water content.
